Akhtar Saeed Medical & Dental College (AMDC) Meets High Standards

Akhtar Saeed Medical & Dental College (AMDC), Lahore (established in 2008), is one of the top medical and dental upcoming colleges that meets high standards. It is recognised by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC). PM&DC has granted permission to train 100 medical students w.e.f. academic session 2008-09. The AMDC is affiliated with University of Health Sciences (UHS).
The AMDC is situated in pollution-free environment of Bahria Town, Lahore. All the seven basic departments are purposefully built, having well-equipped laboratories. Four lecture theatres (each having capacity of 100 seats) and an auditorium with a capacity of 540 persons are fully equipped with multimedia and modern audiovisual aids.
The students of MBBS (Ist year) celebrated the first students day on June 5.
The programme conducted by Dr Fariha Farooq, started with the recitation of the Holy Quran. The chief guest was Dr Sibtul-Hasnain Syed , President, Pakistan Medical and Dental Council. Principal AMDC Dr Eice Muhammad presented the welcome address. Dr Farooq Saeed Khan chairman AMDC, gave a brief history of the institute. He said the foundation of Akhtar Saeed Trust Hospital was laid by his late father Saeed Hussain Khan in 2001. The Akhtar Saeed Trust Hospital is 300-bed hospital affiliated with AMDC headed by Dr Abrar Ilahi Malik, Medical Superintendent, who has a vast experience in managing and running hospitals both in public and private sectors. It is only due to his enthusiastic and untiring efforts of day and night that the hospital has attained the status of a teaching hospital.
The students presented plays, songs and different interesting items. The chief guest Dr Sibtul-Hasnain Syed expressing his views said, "PM&DC is not encouraging the private colleges but actually promoting the medical education to produce doctors and experts to meet the requirements of the society. By doing so, quackery will be discouraged and people will have the availability of medical facilities not far from the place where they live."
